Costers
del Siurana is run by the enigmatic Carols Pastruana, the
former Mayor of Gratalops in Priorat. Carlos was one
of the pioneers in Priorat which now rank among the most
sought after in the whole of Spain.The Dolc de L'Obac is
a serious, almost port like (without the alcohol), sweet red
wine. The unique microclimate allows the grapes to
become fully ripe without botrytis and the grapes are picked
over a long period with the utmost care.
Fermentation and a long maceration both take place in
new, French oak casks. The result is an exquisite sweet wine
which retains part of the natural, unfermented sugars of the
grape. Drinking very well now or will cellar for a further 25 -
30 years.
